My work kills almost all enthusiasm for vidya, like I come home and I just don't wanna move a muscle. They say it's supposed to get easier over time but holy fuck is this gonna take a while for me.
I've been trying to get a mile of walking done a few days per week, they say it's supposed to improve energy/mental health without destroying your joints like running but idk.
I haven't touched my BF4 account in like 2 years, probably no active players on the serves at this point.

About 10 years ago I became interested in learning Japanese. Mostly because of anime, I just wanted to know what the basic konoyarou/tasukete/urusai stuff meant so I could focus better on the show's plot.
The tsukkomi/boke comedy in anime involving unecessary physical/emotional violence never fails to amuse me. I don't watch much anime these days but I have become interested in Japanese culture.
The Miko shrine maidens, Shinto shrines themselves, Geisha, tea ceremonies, Onsen, no tipping in restaurants, general lack of DEI, and so on and so on. All things that I wish the US would adopt.
Thus I've been on a journey, for a few years now, to pass the JLPT N5. I've bought many books on this but it's always turned into a 5 minute study session followed by 30 minutes of youtube.
Result: I can read common kanji compounds like 野菜、電話、入口, without furigana now and from memrise practice I know pretty much all hiragana/katakana. However I just can't power through the grammar parts.
SO I've signed up here: https://www.tokiniandy.com/
It's $10 a month and my hope is that this course dumbs it down enough for me to stick to it for longer than 5 mintues a day. I know some N5 stuff now so I hope it can boost me to N4 level this year alone.
I don't mean to shill this course and I have no idea if it will even be worth it. However my plan is to post updates here every week or so and let you all know how it's going.
I hope that this will help other anons here struggling with learning Japanese. It's an amusing/mysterious high-context language (see honne/tatemae) but it will break you especially with grammar.
Still, the challenge can be quite fun. Which is why I refuse to drop it. Gonna start tomorrow (today?) night so stay tuned.

Say hello or whatever

I've noticed that I'm always putting much more effort into my relationships with people than they put with me.
People don't even remember my birthday. I met this girl a few years ago who complained nobody remembered hers and I made the point to remember it, but when it was my turn, nothing.
Sometimes I feel like I don't even exist.
I maintain friendships with friends I made in middle school and put effort into those relationships, but when it comes to new friendships I'm somewhat lazy about it. Especially online friends. Well, the reality is when I'm online, I probably don't want to synchronously chat with you. Especially not on some horrendous "service" like Discord. I'd probably be more receptive to an online friendship if someone was willing to correspond over email.

Is that it? No more personal computers?
Money isn't worth shit anymore and datacenters literally took all the hardware in the world, I need to work several months to afford a new computer
Life is so fucking shit in 2026, I hate it

It's not that bad yet but you are gonna have to settle for used computers for a while. An optiplex may not seem too appealing at first until you realize they're upgradable. New PSU + used GPU can get you by.
We'll know SHTF when >>710 comes to pass. There's only so much you can take from the have-nots until they begin to realize that they're more dangerous organized together than they are crying about it on twitter and se no way out other violence.
I hope some kind of middle ground can be reached soon. Violence just breeds more violence until nothing is left. It's morbid to think about but imperial Japan learned that the hard way when they became the first nation to have nuclear bombs dropped on its civilians. The rich must at some level understand that they are nothing without us.

Post animal content

I love the squeaky gate call from Blue Jays, so much energy goes into this one call, they often bob up and down as if they're excited or furious when they make it.

Why aren't people having kids anymore? Is there any way birth rates can be raised or is this the new normal?
Imo people are having fewer kids because they're marrying and even dating less often. A lot of people talk about money, but there's the least of the problems.
50 years ago most high school kids dated, nowadays only a minority do. Nowadays we have a lot more virgins and people who never dated.
Standards are sky high and people have no patience for human interaction anymore, guys would rather watch porn over pursing sex. Simping is rampant, be it the guy leaving likes on instagram, the guy on tinder swiping on a million women without getting a match, or the guy on twitch sending money to his dream gamer girl.
Girls end up in soft harems where 10% of guys fuck most women, they are told they need to marry a multi-millionaire while being broke, they are told their normal boyfriends aren't good enough.

Found an old folder with some imageboard stuff

Japanese anon is mad
From 2018 and originally from 2006

Post whatever comes to your mind
I saw this image and was wonder, is feeling like an outsider just the normal autistic experience? My earliest memory was feeling like an outsider when I started school. I've had this feeling my whole life

I managed to endure about an hour of these videos, about halfway done with lesson 1 in the Genki 1 section, tokiniandy has 12 sections for this.
I took the N5 practice test from here: https://www.jlpt.jp/e/samples/forlearners.html
I got 6/14 right so I'm still at rock bottom but watching the video seems considerably less stressful than reading every beginner Japanese book I've tried.
The question where you have to place the particles while also guessing where the verb/nouns go are killing me the most right now. しりませんですよ

Yes it's the N5 variant here: https://www.jlpt.jp/e/samples/forlearners.html
If you can ace this thing then you are 80% done with the basic N5 level of Japanese.

Honest update: 3 months later and I still can't pass all the N5 sample questions on https://www.jlpt.jp/e/samples/forlearners.html
I don't blame tokiniandy though, the videos seem concise and to the point but it's like I'm too dumb to actually grasp the grammar points.
Like I have such a horrible time distinguishing when to use へ and に for location even though the video series seems to try to explain it to me.
I've only been chipping at them in 5 to 15 minute sessions per day max so my laziness hasn't helped either.
I dunno what to do maaaang, it's like I need to grow new braincells or something but I don't know how...

Hi! I've never watched Tron but Quorra looked so familiar. She was 13 in House MD, very memorable/tragic story.

I had a HS friend for many years, but he kinda stopped responding to my messages, only replies with one or two words, so I stopped sending messages

I think it's usually wrong to assimilate people over the internet as friends because there's no strong incentive to be truthful about yourself. Catfishing is the most obvious example, dudes thinking they bagged a 9/10 asian chick only to find out it's a man good at silicone implants/makeup. Then there's all those patriot™ twitter accounts that turn out to be from India and so on and so on.
The rare cases where you may possibly want to consider making an internet friend an actual friend is if you constantly "click" with them and form a deeper bond than say a parasocial relationship over years. But even then be prepared to be lied to, sometimes out of necessity to not be homeless and sometimes out of a mutated form of love that cannot exist.
But having external online communities where you can discuss things that would push away your IRL friends/family is nice. Like if you spend hours building ships in a bottle every night and find communities that value this then it's nice feeling that you share this unique interest with other human beings somewhere out there.

It's good to let go sometimes because often that's how people improve themselves. It's like 4chan if you cane from there like me, I did my best to weather the constant spam and utterly broken and worn down state of the site. Then the 2025 hack and still the refusal for 4chan to improve things made me start searching for altchans.
I had good times with 4chan and it was the source of the 2026 backrooms movie, so many good memories. But I've realized it's a mistake going back there because I'm not valued there and the oldfags left long ago.

We're literally almost there if not there already (and it just hasn't been disclosed/properly battle-tested yet)

I'd be careful with dieting, most people undershoot their 1G/KG bodyweight protein RDA go into muscle catabolism.
I've actually been thinking about making a useful/safe dieting guide for anons once I understand it better.
But if you weight like ~200 lbs or ~90 KG like me it's critical that you never dip below 90 grams of protein while dieting.
Protein quality also seems like a factor too, red meat despite all the pro-vegan "studies" on it remains the highest quality.
Fat is another factor, really lean meats like rabbit meat apparently cause protein poisoning.

>>1216
It's a really complex topic overall since humans did not evolve eating super high fatty wagyuu steak but it seems that we've had a bad time when forced to eat rabbit meat as well.
What I also gather is by eating super high protein you starve yourself of other important minerals/vitamins (stored in fat) and your body short circuits It seems.
